Leone de Castris Joins Les Hénokiens: The World’s Elite of Family Businesses Over Two Centuries Old

Balancing Time and Method: Leone de Castris Featured in “Imbottigliamento” Magazine
It is with immense pride that we announce an extraordinary new milestone for our winery: the official induction of our “Piero e Salvatore Leone de Castris” Museum into the Museimpresa network. This prestigious association, promoted by Assolombarda and Confindustria, brings together over 150 museums and archives of Italy’s leading companies.
Founded in 2001, Museimpresa selects and unites organizations that preserve and promote their industrial and cultural heritage, making it accessible to the public.
A Thousand-Square-Meter Journey into the Heart of Salento
Inaugurated on October 17, 2009, and dedicated to two key figures in our history—Piero and Salvatore Leone de Castris—the exhibition space spans approximately one thousand square meters within our Salice Salentino facility.
This is far more than a simple exhibition; it is an “identity museum.”
Within its halls, the history of winemaking in Puglia comes to life through period objects, tools, and testimonies: from the traditional horse-drawn carts (traìni) once used in the fields to the first bottling systems, presses, and vintage pumps that narrate the winery’s evolution over time.
The tour also showcases some of the most significant labels in our history, such as the 1925 Moscatello, the 1943 Five Roses—the first rosé ever bottled in Italy—the 1948 Negrino, and the first Salice from 1954. Completing the experience are original documents and archival materials that trace over three centuries of family and entrepreneurial history.
“A Heritage for Everyone”: An Invitation to Puglia and the World
This recognition reinforces the spirit in which the museum was conceived. As Piernicola Leone de Castris emphasized:
“Our museum was created not only to recount the history and evolution of the company over time but as a journey of shared growth. It is a project intended as a gift to the local territory and as a heritage open to all.”
Today, by joining Museimpresa, this gift becomes even more significant. Our hope is that this space becomes an increasingly vibrant and meaningful stop for those choosing to discover Salento—a place capable of leaving a lasting impression on visitors while serving as an authentic landmark for the entire Apulian community.
